A Self Catering Cottage in Brittany - France

Well behaved dogs welcome!

In Duault

Duault is a lovely old Breton village. The cottage stands impressively on the square opposite the imposing 16th Century church. One hundred and fifty metres from the front door is the Bar / Tabac / Convenience Store, all rolled into one, it also caters for large parties of diners (at least 10). It's not posh but it is a great place to meet locals and a few resident Brits.Duault also has its own indoor and outdoor Boules pitches and is a great base for walks and biking.

Nearby:

The market town of Carhaix Plouguer (10 miles) and Callac (3 miles), provide everything else you might need on your holiday – shops, restaurants, supermarkets, chemists, petrol, local market a fishing lake etc.. If you like markets you can shop this way every day in one of the surrounding towns or villages. Whatever you do though don't miss Lanion Market on Thursdays, it's special.

Lake Guerladan (the largest lake in Brittany) is 30 minutes away. Here you can explore the 7 mile long stretch of water with its man made beaches by hiring a motorised boat or a more leisurely pedalo or even book a ride on one of the lakes passenger vessels. Look out for the Beau Rivage signs after Gourec.

Guingamp is a lively shopping centre which is well worth a morning or afternoon out. It has easy parking adjacent to the remnants of t castle walls. Guingamps main square is shaded with trees and surrounded by 16th and 17th century half timbered houses.

Huelgoat is a lovely little town which has a lake and forest walks as its main attractions. Paths follow the canal the Riviere Argent (Silver River) to such places as Trou du Diable (the Devils Rock) and Roche Tremblante (the Trembling Rock).

St Servais is a small quaint village less than 10 minutes drive away. It has a bar which is good stopping off point on a bike ride or walk. If you visit the Gorge de Carong turn right at the church in St Servais and carry on for about 10 minutes.
